Giant betta

The giant betta is a freshwater ray-finned fish in the subfamily Macropodusinae, part of the gourami family. It is endemic to South Kalimanatan, Katingan, and Sampit in Indonesian Borneo. It is found in a variety of freshwater habitats.

King betta

King bettas are thought to be betta imbellis rather than betta splendens. In their native Thailand, betta imbellis are used for fighting and have been line-bred for super-aggression. Also, their short fins and broad tail make them much faster and more agile swimmers than betta splendens.

Giant betta is highly territorial and aggressive towards other fish of their kind.

King and Giant bettas are thought to be related to the typical species betta imbellis. Betta imbellis are bred for super-aggression and are widely used in fighting contests.

Rather than being bred for the ornamental qualities of the normal betta splendens, these varieties of betta fish have short fins and broad tails, making them fast, agile swimmers and excellent fighters. Giant betta and king betta are available in blue, red, green, and marble colors.

Talking about their lifespan, giant betta usually lives longer than king betta.

The life span of giant betta is approximately from 3 to 5 years, while the life span of king betta is about 3 years. Giant betta can live for 2 more years thanking betta if cared for properly.

·       Breeding

Both species, king betta and giant betta lie eggs to produce their offspring. Their eggs contain layers. During the development of the eggs, they will swallow a little and turn yellow. The average size of eggs is 1mm big.
